Travis Scott and Drake’s Grammy‑nominated producer Tay Keith dies aged 29

Grammy‑nominated producer Tay Keith has died in Nashville at the age of 29, authorities have confirmed.

Metro Nashville Police said the hip-hop studio wizard – born Brytavious Lakeith Chambers – was found at his Martin Street apartment on Thursday (18.06.26) during a welfare check.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

In a statement, the department said: “No foul play is suspected in the death of Brytavious Chambers also known as Grammy‑nominated record producer Tay Keith.

“He was found dead in his Martin St apartment this afternoon by officers performing a welfare check. His death is unclassified pending autopsy results.”

The Memphis‑born producer, known for his work with Drake, Travis Scott, Beyoncé, 21 Savage, Swae Lee and Eminem, began making beats at the age of 14.

His career gained momentum in 2015 when he started working with Blac Youngsta, and he achieved viral success in 2017 with Shoot, his collaboration with BlocBoy JB.

The Look Alive producer reached global recognition the following year when the track, featuring Drake, became an international hit. He went on to co‑produce Travis Scott’s 2018 No. 1 single Sicko Mode, the first hip-hop song in history to spend at least 30 weeks in the chart’s Top 10.

Sicko Mode earned Grammy nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.

Keith also produced the likes of Drake’s Nonstop, Beyoncé’s Before I Let Go, and Eminem’s Not Alike.

The Pound Town producer also released solo material, including the 2023 single of the same name with Sexyy Red. The track became a breakout moment for the rapper and later received a remix from Nicki Minaj.

Keith previously opened up about having a “rough” childhood growing up in Memphis, and about music being his ticket out of there.

He told The Nashville Tennessean: “It was rough.

“You gotta grind, you gotta make your way. Everybody’s got their grind mentality in Memphis. Music was my way out. School was the plan B, just in case music didn’t work out. I didn’t know it was gonna work out. I just felt like, ‘If I’m doing these two things, something’s going to get me up there. Something’s going to make me successful.'”
