Lorde loves to "trawl" through her neighbours’ rubbish.
The 18-year-old singer is a fan of a recycling initiative in her native New Zealand which sees residents clear out their unwanted clothes and furniture and leave them outside until they are collected and taken to a landfill, and she admits some of her favourite possessions were picked up off the streets.
She said: "I’m boring because my favourite thing to do is trawl the inorganics. Do you have inorganics here?
"It stays on the street for a few days and then it’s collected and put into a landfill somewhere. But people drive around and go through other people’s household rubbish. And, honestly, I’ve gotten amazing furniture, shoes, hats, jackets."
However, the ‘Royals’ hitmaker admits it is "embarrassing" to still go through the unwanted items now she is famous because she always gets recognised.
She said: "I did this three weeks ago! Recognised every single time. So embarrassing!"
Despite her global success, the singer – whose real name is Ella Yellich-O’Connor – insists she has no idea how much money she has.
She told Stella magazine: "Do I feel rich now? Um. I don’t really know how much money I have. I just let my dad deal with it."
