Tom Hardy didn’t want to leave Peaky Blinders

Tom Hardy "didn’t want to leave" ‘Peaky Blinders’.
The 40-year-old actor was dropped from the crime drama last year after his character Alfie Solomons was dramatically shot dead by Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) in the final episode of series four but, prior to the scenes hitting screens, there was some "debate" between writers because Tom didn’t want to leave the show.
Paul Anderson – who plays Arthur Shelby in the drama – told Digital Spy: "I didn’t know that was coming. We were unsure… there was a whole thing about whether or not Alfie would live or die, or get shot or not. It was up for debate and discussion. I know that Tom didn’t want to go. So there was this whole thing."
However, the 40-year-old will have his hands full with other projects this year anyway as he’s confirmed that he’ll reprise his role as adventurer James Delaney in ‘Taboo’.
Tom said of the news: "We are grateful and excited to continue our relationship with the BBC and FX in contributing towards British drama. Fantastic news."
Executive producer Ridley Scott added: "We’re thrilled people want to know what happens next and that the BBC and FX are up for more adventures with the devil Delaney and the league of the damned. Along with our international distributors, Sonar Entertainment, the BBC and FX have been great partners, supporting Taboo at every stage so it could be the dark, dirty brute of a drama that it is."
The BBC’s decision to commission a second series comes after the show’s writer Steven Knight revealed he had enough content planned for another two series.
He said recently: "We think it has got a two and a three certainly, that’s the plan. After that who knows? This series is eight parts – it’s a lot of time."
