Tom Cruise says Val Kilmer is ‘doing well’ after cancer battle

Tom Cruise says Val Kilmer is "doing really well" after overcoming a two-year battle with throat cancer.
The ‘Top Gun’ actor – who is teaming up with Val on the much-anticipated sequel to the 1986 action classic – has given fans an update on his 57-year-old co-star’s health following his treatment for the illness, which he overcame in 2017.
Asked how his friend is getting on, the Hollywood star told Extra: "He’s doing really well."
While Tom still can’t quite believe they’re making a follow-up to the adrenaline-fuelled blockbuster, he did admit that it was great to be working with Val again.
He added: "It was very special for me."
Last year, ‘Batman Forever’ actor Val explained how his outlook on life had changed and become less "serious" in light of his cancer battle.
He confessed: "I was too serious. I’d get upset when things like Oscars and recognition failed to come my way.
"I would like to have more Oscars than anybody. Meryl Streep must feel pretty good, you know? It must feel nice to know that everyone loves her. It’s about being loved."
Previously, Val addressed his cancer battle during a Reddit Q&A session, in which he claimed his faith as a Christian helped him to overcome his illness.
When asked by a fan how his cancer fight was progressing, the actor said: "I am very grateful for all the prayers and good thoughts from around the world.
"People that know I am a Christian Scientist make the assumption that I have somehow endangered myself. But many many people have been healed by prayer throughout recorded history. And many many people have died by whatever was modern medicine."
