Tom Cruise hails Russell Crowe’s Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde ‘incredible’

Tom Cruise has praised Russell Crowe’s "incredible" portrayal of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in their forthcoming film ‘The Mummy’.
The 54-year-old action star plays military Nick Morton in the Universal Pictures reboot and his character comes to blows with Crowe’s depraved doctor and his serum-induced alter ego – a character taken from Robert Louis Stevenson’s 1886 novella ‘Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’.
Speaking about his co-star’s take on the infamous schizophrenic, the actor said: "He is incredible in it. He’s such a fine actor and I just had a lot of fun watching him develop that character. And we had some great scenes together — a really great fight scene between the two of us, and it was a blast doing."
‘Peaky Blinders’ star Annabelle Wallis plays Jenny Halsey in the action flick and the teaser trailer shows the blonde beauty and Cruise’s alter egos running through the streets of London as the ancient mummified queen, portrayed by Kingsman’s Sofia Boutella, causes chaos in the modern day.
The film will mark the birth of the Universal Monsters’ Cinematic Universe – a reboot of the classic Universal Monster movies from the 1920s through to the 1950s – when it’s released next June, and according to Cruise, it will shock cinema-goers and make them jump.
He explained to ‘Entertainment Tonight’: "This is a real monster movie. It’s also going to have humor, some romance and it’s very, very scary. There’s some scenes and sequences in here that are really epic and people are going to jump."
‘The Mummy’ is set to be followed by new creature features based around The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man, Van Helsing, The Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Bride of Frankenstein.
