Tokio Myers wins Britain’s Got Talent

Tokio Myers has been crowned the winner of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.
The 32-year-old pianist stunned audiences with his powerful rendition of an instrumental version of Rag’n’Bone Man’s hit single ‘Human’ – accompanied by a moving choir – and beat off the competition from 10 other finalists to be hailed as the winner of the series in Saturday’s (03.06.17) live final.
Judge David Walliams said after his performance: "I really think that was the performance of the night."
Whilst Alesha Dixon added: "By far the coolest act we’ve ever had on the show."
Tokio’s win has guaranteed the star a spot in the Royal Variety Performance – which will take place on November 24 at the London Palladium Theatre – as well as bagging a cool £250,000 in prize money.
Elsewhere in the show, eight-year-old magician Issy Simpson narrowly missed out on the top spot as she finished in second place, after wowing crowds with her mystifying card tricks involving her four-year-old brother Dexter.
Comedian Daliso Chaponda – who was Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer act – rounded out the top three for the evening, with his edgy comedy not quite charming the voting public enough to bag him the top prize, despite being hailed as "the best comedian we’ve ever had on this show" by show boss Simon Cowell.
Meanwhile, The Missing People’s Choir, singers The Pensionalities, dance group MerseyGirls, nine-year-old comedian Ned Woodman, comedian and magician Matt Edwards, singer Kyle Tomlinson, magic duo DNA, and singer Sarah Ikumu – who was the judge’s wildcard and scored a place in the final despite not making it through on the public vote – all failed to make it into the top three.
The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ final took place on Saturday, one day ahead of it’s scheduled slot on Sunday (04.06.17), as it was moved so as not to detract attention from the One Love Manchester benefit concert – which is being held to raise money for those affected by the terrorist atrocity which killed 22 people and left more than 50 injured on May 22 – being broadcast live on television on Sunday.
