Toby Kebbell linked to Ben Hur remake


Toby Kebbell is in early talks to appear in the remake of Ben Hur.

According to Variety, the actor- who starred in ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ – has already held discussions with MGM and Paramount over the role of villain Messala in the film, which is based on Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel ‘Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ’.

The original film starred Charles Heston and was released in 1959.

Casting for the remake has being picking up pace in recent weeks, with Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman and ‘Boardwalk Empire’s’ Jack Huston – who is to play the lead role – having already been confirmed.

Freeman, 77, has been cast in the role of role of Ildarin, originally Ilderim, the man who transforms Judah Ben-Hur into a champion chariot racer.

Huston, 31, is set to play the role of the prince, who is betrayed and then sold into slavery.

The story runs parallel to the life of Jesus.

The remake is scheduled to be released in November 2016.

Meanwhile, it’s also been confirmed that Huston is to play Wickham in the adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s ‘Pride And Prejudice And Zombies’.
