Toby Jones to play exciting villain in Sherlock

Toby Jones has been cast in ‘Sherlock’ as "one of Doyle’s finest villains".
The 49-year-old actor – famous his roles in ‘Dad’s Army’, ‘Frost/Nixon’, ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise and two ‘Captain America’ films – is set to take a break from Hollywood to star in the second episode of the new three-part detective series inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Speaking of his casting, he said: "I’m excited and intrigued by the character I shall be playing in ‘Sherlock’…"
Bosses have remained tight-lipped on who the British star will play, however, co-creator, writer and executive producer Steven Moffat revealed the character is truly iconic in the Holmes pantheon of stories.
He said: "I’m delighted to have Toby Jones on board, bringing to life one of Doyle’s finest villains."
Fellow co-creator and executive producer Mark Gatiss – who also stars as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft Holmes in the drama – added: "We’re thrilled to welcome one of our finest actors to the ‘Sherlock’ family. I know Toby will embrace the part with true relish!"
Episode two of Series Four started shooting on Monday (16.05.16) and is being directed by Nick Hurran, who was Emmy nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries for ‘His Last Vow’ series three ‘Sherlock’ episode.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are back in their roles as Sherlock Holmes and Doctor John Watson respectively.
‘Miranda’ star James Holmes will also be making a guest appearance in the programme.
‘Sherlock’ is expected to be back on BBC One in early 2017.
