Tina Malone doesn’t think age gaps matter in relationships.
The 51-year-old actress – who is 19 years older than her husband, Paul Chase – sees no problem with marrying someone who is much older or younger, and congratulated 57-year-old actor Stephen Fry on his recent engagement to a 27-year-old man.
She explained: "He’s an intelligent, articulate man. He’s no fool. He’s probably been round the block like I had and road tested a few! Good luck to him… I just don’t see the problem. Whether he was older or younger, someone was going to have something to say because he was in the public eye."
The ‘Shameless’ star’s husband went on to say that as long as there is chemistry between a couple, he believes an age gap can even be a blessing, especially when it comes to activity in the bedroom.
He added: "If it works, it works… honestly. The connections. The chemistry. Better sex! I am blessed. And if Stephen Fry is happy, I’m made up for him because that bloke has been through some [tough times]…"
The former ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ contestant also said she can sympathise with the ‘QI’ presenter when it comes to finding love.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’, she said: "If it works for him, I say go ahead and do it…. he’s suffered bipolar as I have and it’s swings and roundabouts, we can be highly neurotic and intense and over analyse things and if he’s felt enough joy to get engaged and plan a wedding – they obviously have a connection, and isn’t being in love about chemistry? And about whether you connect physically, mentally and emotionally?"
