Tim Roth teases The Hateful Eight sequel

Tim Roth has teased a sequel to ‘The Hateful Eight’.

The 54-year-old British actor stars as Oswaldo "The Little Man" Mobray in Quentin Tarantino’s latest western – alongside Samuel L. Jackson (Major Marquis Warren) and Kurt Russell (John ‘The Hangman’ Ruth) – and revealed they are still "prodding" the material, and there is much more that could lend itself to a second plot.

Speaking in an interview with Metro newspaper about the story – which is based on rival bounty hunters in post-Civil War Wyoming – he spilled: "He gave us a very detailed backstory which begged him to make it as a film. Like please please do this, it’s so good. It’s insane the backstory, for how they are there, why they are there, all of that deal. We are still prodding it … It’s fantastic, it’s nuts."

The movie was shot in Ultra Panavision 70 – a format used only on 10 films since its discovery in the 1950s and most famously on the 1959 historical epic drama ‘Ben-Hur’ – and has been nominated for three Golden Globes.

And Roth believes the "universe" of ‘The Hateful Eight’ could spout a number of interesting threads to explore.

He added: "He (Tarantino) creates such a fabulous little universe, that you could never come up with enough."

Elsewhere, the film has been met with trouble in the UK after cinema chain Cineworld decided not to show it because they objected to a deal with Odeon to have the exclusive rights for showing it in London’s West End.

But the movie’s distributor, Entertainment Film, has released a statement and explained that the special facilities required for the unique 70mm Ultra Panavision presentation, meant they "needed the largest theatre and screen possible in the West End and the Odeon Leicester Square was the natural choice".
