Tim Henman shuns Strictly Come Dancing

Tim Henman has shunned the idea of appearing on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 42-year-old retired tennis player may have managed to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals four times in his career, but he won’t be finding the same success on the dance floor as he claims he would rather "stick pins in [his] eyes" than appear on the popular BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Tim said: "From when I announced my retirement, the offer from Strictly has been there. But I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than do it. I have two left feet, and I can’t dance anyway."
‘Strictly…’ has often drawn in members of the sporting world, with gymnast Louis Smith and cricketer Darren Gough having previously won the show, whilst Judy Murray – the mother of tennis superstar Andy Murray – has also taken part.
And although Tim Henman has refused to ever appear on the show, the same can’t be said for pop megastar Ed Sheeran, who recently claimed he would "100 percent" take part in the future.
He said: "I will 100 percent do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ one day. I think something like ‘I’m a Celebrity [Get Me Out of Here]’ would be fun, too."
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that fitness guru Joe Wicks has agreed to take part in the 2017 series of the programme, and BBC bosses hope that the hunky star’s appearance will help to boost viewing figures.
A source said: "Joe would be perfect on ‘Strictly…’. The bosses have been eager to make sure he signs the deal as soon as possible."
‘Strictly…’ bosses are reportedly already planning the outfits Joe can wear on the programme, which will show off his enviable physique.
The insider added: "They reckon he will be the hunkiest contestant to appear on the show.
"He would certainly get the ratings up – especially in the costumes they have planned for him. There will be a lot of flesh on show, that’s for sure."
