Thomas Atkinson hints at Lachlan comeuppance

Thomas Atkinson loves playing "complete psychopath" Lachlan White on ‘Emmerdale’ – but has hinted his character will get his comeuppance.
The 19-year-old actor’s alter-ego added a third victim to his list on last night’s (17.05.18) dramatic double bill when he brutally killed his so-called best pal Gerry Roberts (Shaun Thomas), and despite the harrowing scenes, Thomas finds it "fun" playing the murderer.
He told BANG Showbiz: "He’s already killed his mum and his granddad five months ago so he’s just adding one more to the list.
"Everyone who knows that characters who have killed people do eventually have their comeuppance.
"But there are still people in the village who have killed people years ago so we’ll have to see.
"I’ve enjoyed it. It’s fun playing my character because he is a complete psychopath. It’s been great."
Lachlan’s latest hit comes after he caused a car crash which killed his granddad Lawrence White (John Bowe) and mum Chrissie White (Louise Marwood), but Thomas insists his character will not do away with his girlfriend Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
He added: "He tries to justify his actions, so everything he’s done so far has been for his relationship with Belle. The entire reason he’s killed those people is for Belle. He’s not going to kill Belle.
"I wouldn’t necessarily say he thinks he’s a psychopath because he’s justifying it in his head.
"Gerry was his best friend and he didn’t want to do it deep down.
"With his mum and granddad is was a spur of the moment thing because they’d treated him so badly.
"He’s definitely conflicted though."
