This Morning gaffer taped door stops for royal visit

‘This Morning’ gaffer taped all their door stops in preparation for the royal visit.
The brunch time show wanted to pull out all the stops for when Prince Charles and his wife Duchess Camilla stopped by the studio in London yesterday (31.01.18) so they covered all their wooden wedges in the thick black tape to make them look more presentable.
Speaking on the show today (01.02.18), Phillip Schofield said: "You may wonder what preparation we did for the royal visit.
"They always say when the royal family visit anywhere, all they ever smell is fresh paint. But we went to town, we painted one door. And normally our door wedges are white, messy and scuffed up. We covered them all in black gaffer tape."
The royal couple also got to meet the three disability dogs – Clover, Luna and Digby – the show has raised over the past two years, but their recent addition wasn’t the best behaved as he grabbed the microphone and tossed it across the floor in the hope of playing fetch.
Holly Willoughby said: "Digby was desperate to steal the limelight and stole one of our microphones. Thankfully the prince was on hand to restore order … Clover was so calm and obviously she was there with her new family."
Phillip added: "I was a little bit gutted that neither Clover or Luna recognised us. They’re like showbiz, they’re moving on. They don’t recognise us. While Digby is just wrestling mics, in fact, it wasn’t our mic, it was Chris Ship’s – the royal correspondent for ITV News – and then when he came to speak to us a bit later on it was covered in dog slime."
Holly said: "I loved that Charles played with him. He just wanted to play fetch with the dog."
Charles, 69, also got to meet queen of the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me out of Here!’ jungle Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo – who is a presenter for ‘This Morning’ – but was reluctant to shake her hand in case she had picked up any of those "awful diseases" while Down Under.
She explained: "I told him that I’d just got back from the jungle in Australia and he said: ‘You didn’t get any of those awful diseases did you?’ And I was thinking: ‘No, I don’t think so.’ Then I doubted myself and thought ‘Oh my God, I just shook your hand.’ Maybe I brought back something nasty from Australia and then he went: ‘Did you do all those nasty things.’ And I went: ‘Yes I did, Charles. I did it all.’ "
