This Country remembers Michael Sleggs

‘This Country’ will pay tribute to Michael Sleggs in its final series.
The actor – who tragically died in July last year aged 33 – will be honoured with the first episode of the BBC Three comedy’s third series named after his character Michael ‘Slugs’ Slugette.
‘A Letter From Slugs’ will kick off the final season of the show, and siblings Daisy May and Charlie Cooper – who created the mockumentary and star as cousins Kerry and Lee ‘Kurtan’ Mucklowe – were determined to recognise his role.
Charlie said: "He totally embodied the whole spirit of the show.
"It was so difficult. I think we always wanted to include him and I know he wanted to be included.
"It was really tough filming those scenes but we had to be truthful to that character and the storyline.
"I genuinely don’t think this show would have been half as popular or successful if it hadn’t been for Michael."
The cast were left heartbroken last year following Michael’s death after he lost his battle with a long-term illness.
Daisy and Charlie previously opened up on his passing and how it was hard to film the upcoming series without him.
Charlie said: "It was tough having to do it without him because he’s such a huge part of the show both on-screen and behind-the-scenes.
"He embodied the spirit of the whole thing, so his absence was really hard. He had such a great sense of humour."
Daisy added: "He definitely wanted to be in it. He wanted it to be funny.
"His family really wanted that and [said] that we should mention it [his death] in a funny way. I hope that we’ve made him proud."
