The Voice spin-off show plans ‘axed’

ITV have abandoned plans for a ‘The Voice’ spin-off show.
The channel is to air the former BBC programme from next year along with a ‘The Voice Kids’, but they are said to have axed proposals for a side show which was due to be broadcast on ITV2.
A spokesperson told RadioTimes.com: "We are currently focused on ‘The Voice UK’ and ‘The Voice Kids’, both of which will broadcast on ITV in 2017, and there are no plans at present for a spin off show."
Budget concerns are not thought to be the reason behind ITV’s decision to scrap the sister project.
The BBC aired spin-off show, ‘The Voice: Louder on Two’, in 2014 hosted by Zoe Ball but that was axed after one series.
ITV won the rights for the format last year and have a three-year deal in place, while the kids version of the programme has a two-year deal.
While the coaching panel for the forthcoming ITV version of ‘The Voice’ is not yet known, Sir Tom Jones is thought to be in "advanced negotiations" about reclaiming his red chair on the show after being let go by the BBC in August last year.
A source recently said: "Tom is keen to get back on the show – something he wouldn’t have been if it was still on the Beeb rather than ITV.
"It’s being seen as a masterstroke to get him back as he’s worried worked with them all – including Elvis – and commands respect.
"The only thing that is holding him back is whether it’s too soon after this wife’s death and whether that makes it the right decision."
However, Tom’s predecessor Boy George has decided to put an end to his ‘The Voice’ journey after just one series.
