The Search to debut this autumn

‘The Search’ will air on BBC One this autumn.

Little Mix’s new talent show had to be pushed back as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but the girl band – Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson – have now confirmed their hunt for top musical talent will air in the coming months.

Perrie said: "We can’t wait for everyone to finally see what we’ve been working on because it’s so good!

"This show is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time."

Jade added: "The auditions were great fun to film.

"So much talent auditioned for the show that it was genuinely tough to decide who should go through. There are lots of twists and turns."

In the show, the ‘Power’ hitmakers will create bands and become mentors to a new wave of talent, and wannabes who make it into the new groups will gain access to Little Mix’s inner circle, such as vocal coaches, songwriters and producers.

In June, Jade admitted the group will ensure they "take care of" the talent show’s contestants.

She said: "It’s so lovely being able to give people that opportunity, to put them on a show where you know they are going to be looked after properly. We’re going to take care of them and help them as much as we can."

Her comments came just a month after she revealed the hopefuls had been rehearsing over Zoom in the wake of the pandemic,

She said: "The contestants have been incredible, they’ve all got like WhatsApp groups going and checking in on each other, rehearsing over Zoom.

"It’s been really interesting.

"Because we’ve had to learn to do that ourselves, in terms of getting along and seeing the bigger picture, it’s making groups and seeing the energy. It’s quite hard getting the groups to gel

"[Little Mix] just gelled straight away.

"We’re not naive enough to think that’s going to happen with another group we put together, we really need to get it right and look out for them and help them all."

In March, it was revealed ‘The Search’ live shows, four shows across Saturdays in May with a live studio audience, had been delayed due to coronavirus.

A source said at the time: "The girls have been told the live shows for their TV series ‘The Search’ are going to be delayed.

"The plan was to air four live shows every Saturday night across May.

"But because these would be filmed in front of a live studio audience, they’ve had to pull the plug because of coronavirus.

"It’s a really frustrating time for the group but they know there’s nothing that can be done."
