The band’s tour in 1972 in support of their album ‘Exile on the Main St.’ was chaos.
The first concert on June 3 in Vancouver, British Columbia, saw 31 policemen treated for injuries after more than 2,000 fans attempted to crash the Pacific Coliseum.
In San Diego, 10 days later, there were 60 arrests and 15 injured, and in Tucson, Arizona, 300 young fans attempted to storm the gates leading to police using tear gas.
When the ‘Paint It Black’ hitmakers arrived in Chicago for three shows, they stayed at the Playboy Mansion with Hugh Hefner.
The next month, on July 13, police had to block 2,000 fans from trying to gain access to the show in Detroit, because they didn’t have tickets.
by July 18, the band’s entourage got into a bust-up with photographer Andy Dickerman in Rhode Island, and Jagger and Richards landed in jail.
However, the then-Mayor of Boston bailed them out and the show at Boston Garden went ahead.
The tour ended with four shows over three consecutive nights at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
