The Masked Singer UK wraps filming

The second series of ‘The Masked Singer UK’ has wrapped filming.

Joel Dommett – who is returning as the host of the UK version of the hit talent show – has confirmed that it will be back after fears it would be shut down due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Joel told Metro.co.uk: "We finished filming this week – two days ago, which is amazing.

It was mad, obviously, there were a lot of rules and regulations so the relief when we got it done was amazing."

However, they had many strict rules in place so they could adhere to the social distancing guidelines.

The comedian added: "There were a lot of rule changes at the time and everyone was scared it was going to get shut down halfway through.

The scale of the production of that show is so big, so I am so pleased that it’s done and ITV managed to get it done."

One big change for the upcoming second season will see Mo Gilligan replace ‘The Hangover’ actor Ken Jeong on the panel.

Ken – who is still expected to judge on the US version of ‘The Masked Singer’ – has been ruled out of a return due to travel restrictions caused by the pandemic.

Mo will team up with panellists Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross on the ITV show, and Joel has high hopes for his new co-star.

He said recently: "It’s such an amazing addition. It’s going to be so good.

"I’ve known Mo for ages – very funny dude. I think he’s going to be brilliant."

Ken has admitted he’s "gutted" to be missing out on the second series, but he couldn’t resist a lighthearted joke about the current health crisis.

He quipped: "I had so much fun on season one of ‘The Masked Singer UK’, I told the team nothing short of a global pandemic would stop me from coming back for season two.

"I am gutted because I truly love working with Joel, Rita, Davina, Jonathan and everyone at Bandicoot and ITV.

"I hope, when things start to normalise, I can return and offer my expertise on all things British, like the Australian Open. Please take care, be safe, and as the title of the show suggests, wear a mask."

‘The Masked Singer’ sees famous faces dressed in wacky disguises as the judges guess who is under the mask.
