The guitar Liam Gallagher destroyed on the night Oasis split is expected to fetch up to £500k at auction

The guitar Liam Gallagher destroyed on the night Oasis split up is going up for sale.

Noel Gallagher’s 1960 Cherry Red Gibson ES-355 guitar – which frontman Liam wielded during a backstage bust-up between the siblings at their final concert in Paris in 2009 before their 15-year estrangement – is expected to fetch between £250,000 and £500,000 ($330,000–$660,000) as part of Propstore’s Music Memorabilia Auction.

Taking place in London on October 23 and 24, the sale also includes the Takamine FP460SC acoustic guitar which was used to record Britpop classic Wonderwall. It has a pre-sale estimate of £200,000 to £400,000 ($264,000 – $528,000).

Zak Starkey, former drummer for Oasis, commented: “I’m extremely proud of my work with Oasis and being able to give fans the opportunity to purchase genuine memorabilia in Propstore’s music auction is a way of them being able to share the journey and power Mantra Of The Cosmos into new and unknown universes!”

In celebration of the Supersonic band’s Live ’25 reunion tour, more than 100 other Oasis items will also go under the hammer.

A pair of John Lennon’s tinted prescription glasses – worn during his “Lost Weekend” in Los Angeles, an 18-month period between 1973 and 1975 which saw him separate from his wife Yoko Ono, party hard and record three albums – are also set to hit the auction block with a pre-sale estimate of £150,000–£300,000 ($198,000–$396,000).

Items previously owned by Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, David Bowie and more are also part of the massive sale.

Mark Hochman, Propstore’s Music Specialist, commented: “Propstore’s auction is a celebration of music history, with guitars that shaped the sound of a generation, handwritten lyrics that capture the first spark of legendary songs, and personal items that offer a glimpse into the lives of the world’s greatest music artists. From John Lennon’s unmistakable glasses to Noel Gallagher’s iconic guitars, these are not just collectables; they’re cultural touchstones that have inspired millions. The Oasis online auction is a particular highlight, perfectly timed with the band’s return to the stage, and offering fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a tangible piece of their enduring story.”

The two-day Music Memorabilia Auction will begin at 7am PDT / 3pm BST each day. The first day of the auction features in-room bidding open to the public at The Cumberland Hotel on October 23. The second day, on October 24, will be an online-only Oasis celebration.

Global online, absentee, and telephone bids will be accepted throughout the event.

Registration is now open, and the full catalogue is available to view and bid on at https://propstoreauction.com/auctions/info/id/460.
