The Greatest Dancer second series confirmed for 2020

‘The Greatest Dancer’ has been confirmed for a second series.
The first run of the BBC’s dancing competition concluded on Saturday night (23.02.19) and it has been announced that it will be back in 2020 for another season after Ellie Ferguson, 14, became its inaugural winner this weekend.
Kate Phillips, Controller BBC Entertainment, said: "We wanted a big joyful show that celebrated extraordinary and memorable dancers of all ages and from all backgrounds and that’s exactly what we got.
"Everyone worked so hard on the show and we can’t wait to go again and see who will manage to open our magnificent mirror!"
It’s not yet been announced whether captains Cheryl, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ pro Oti Mabuse and former ‘Glee’ star Matthew Morrison will be back.
Asked by host Alesha Dixon how she was feeling after winning, 2019 champion Ellie said: "I’m speechless. It’s been the most amazing experience of my life and I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone’s support. I want to say thank you to my coach and to Oti."
For winning the show, Ellie has been given the £50,000 prize as well as a slot performing on Latin and ballroom show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and she admitted she "couldn’t believe" she would be getting a chance to appear on the show.
And Oti was equally thrilled for Ellie.
She told the schoolgirl: "It’s been all her. It has nothing to do with me. She came every week and she did it. She deserves it so much. I’m so happy for you."
Ellie beat fellow finalists Harry and Eliyah and KLA to the crown, while James and Oliver went out of the competition earlier in the evening after getting the least public votes.
