The Diana Award will honour 20 children in May this year

The Diana Award is set to be presented to 20 children in May this year.
The special Inaugural Legacy Award accolade, which is awarded to a select group of young people in the name of the late Princess of Wales, will be presented to the recipients who embody "kindness, compassion and service" at London’s St. James’ Palace on May 18.
The Diana Award website announced the news, as well as the anti-bullying award programme’s official Twitter account.
Speaking about the event, the chief executive of the scheme, Tessy Ojo, said: "Diana, Princess of Wales is widely remembered for her values of compassion, kindness and service to others, irrespective of their culture, race or background. Twenty years since her death, we are delighted to announce that this very special and prestigious Award event will be held at St James Palace on 18 May 2017. We know there are truly exceptional young people across the world who deserve to be recognised. We urge communities, youth groups and schools to nominate them for the Award."
And the deadline to nominate candidates to receive the accolade will close in two weeks time on March 17.
And an independent judging panel, which is helmed by Dame Julia Clevedon, Founder of Step Up To Serve, will narrow down the winners.
The people who receive the honour will not only receive the award but will also have access to a unique development programme, which will enable them to refine key skills including leadership, community development, social entrepreneurship and technology.
And this year marks the 20th anniversary since the scheme was set up, and to celebrate the occasion The Diana Award has set up a commemorative website to celebrate Princess Diana’s legacy, which will be open to everyone to pay their respects and share their memories about the royal, who tragically died in 1997.
