Taylor Swift will be inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame 2026

Taylor Swift and Alanis Morissette are being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame class of 2026.

The Anti-Hero hitmaker and Ironic singer are among this year’s group of inductees, along with Footloose writer Kenny Loggins, and KISS legends Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.

SHOF Chairman Nile Rodgers said in a statement: “The music industry is built upon the incredible talent of songwriters who create unforgettable songs.

“Without their artistry, there would be no recorded music, concert experiences, or engaged fans.

“Everything originates from the song and its creator.”

Taylor is making history this year as the youngest woman to ever be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

As well as the four ‘performing songwriter’ nominees, the Hall of Fame will also honour Walter Afanasieff, Christopher ‘Tricky’ Stewart, and the duo of Terry Britten and Graham Lyle.

Afanasieff is known for his work with Mariah Carey on the likes of All I Want For Christmas Is You and Hero, while Britten and Lyle penned classics including Tina Turner’s What’s Love Got To Do With It, and Stewart’s catalogue includes the likes of Rihanna hit single Umbrella and Beyonce’s Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).

Nile Rogers continued: “We take great pride in our ongoing commitment to recognizing some of the most culturally significant composers in history.

“This year’s lineup not only showcases iconic songs but also celebrates unity across various genres.

“These songwriters have profoundly impacted the lives of billions of listeners worldwide, and it is our privilege to honour their contributions.”

To be eligible for induction, a songwriter must have a notable catalogue of songs, and their first commercial release needs to have been at least 20 years ago.

Taylor’s debut single Tim McGraw dropped in June 2006, but is able to be inducted because the ceremony isn’t until June 11 at New York City’s Marriott Marquis Hotel.
