Taylor Swift cautious of fake friends

Taylor Swift has no time for fake friends.

The ‘Shake It Off’ hitmaker says she’s not interested in being friends with people who are only keen on spending time with her because she’s rich and famous.

She explained: "My friends are the kind of people that have their own lives, and their own busy schedules, and that’s why we get along so well."

The 24-year-old star – who released her fifth studio album ‘1989’ last month – told ASOS: "A lot of ‘celebrities’ surround themselves with these very chic cling-ons who don’t really have much of a job or a passion, they follow around their celebrity BFF and provide constant affirmation for them and I’m really not interested in that kind of deal."

Taylor also admits her friends influence her taste in fashion, explaining: "When I’m getting dressed, it’s always based on what my friends will think. They are my number one priority and the opinions of girls are more important to me at this point in my life."

But Taylor concedes criticism can be beneficial.

She reflected: "The first step to receiving negativity is to decide whether or not it is the opinion of somebody that you care about.

"If it’s somebody that I respect, then I really do take it into account because ‘haters gonna hate’ only applies to people who are simply criticising you because their life sucks.

"As much as I would really like to have saved myself heartache, embarrassment or gossip, I also know that my biggest mistakes have turned into my best lessons and sometimes my greatest career triumphs."
