Tanisha Gorey wants to follow in Michelle Keegan’s footsteps

Tanisha Gorey would love to follow in former ‘Coronation Street’ actress Michelle Keegan’s footsteps.

The 17-year-old cobbles star has looked up to the 32-year-old actress – who appeared on ‘Corrie’ from 2008 to 2014 – and hopes to have a career as successful as hers when she leaves Weatherfield one day.

Asked if there are any former ‘Corrie’ stars whose footsteps she would love to follow in, she told OK! magazine: "Michelle Keegan has gone so far. You look at people who’ve left soaps and a lot of them you don’t see much of again, but Michelle has really made a name for herself."

As well as playing an army medic in ‘Our Girl’, Michelle – who was Tina McIntyre in the ITV soap – has portrayed Erin in the comedy-drama ‘Brassic’.

And while Tanisha – who has played Asha since she was six years old – is planning to stay on ‘Corrie’, she would love to expand her talent and take part in a drama series one day.

She added: "I’m hoping to be there until they kick me out! At some point I’d love to be involved in some form of drama series because I can be very dramatic sometimes.

"I’ve been at ‘Corrie’ all my life so it would be nice to try something different."

Tanisha is looking forward to getting back to work following the pandemic.

She said: "I can’t wait to get back to filming. I don’t think anyone knows what to do with themselves. I love my job and it makes me want it more. I miss it so much!

"And I think I speak for everyone in the cast and crew there. We’re itching to get back."
