Talks held over Spider-Man, Captain America crossover

Discussions have been held about a ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘Captain America’ crossover.

A series of leaked documents, seen by the Wall Street Journal, show that Sony has staged talks with Marvel about the possibility of Peter Parker featuring in ‘Captain America: Civil War’.

The talks are detailed in leaked emails from the likes of Amy Pascal, the Chief of Sony Pictures, Doug Belgrad, Sony’s President of Production, and Bob Iger, the Chair of Disney.

In one of the emails, sent from Doug to Amy, he proposes a scenario in which Marvel would produce three new ‘Spider-Man’ movies, with Sony retaining "creative control, marketing and distribution".

What’s more, the documents show that Sony – which has a long-term licence in relation to ‘Spider-Man’ – has the chance to progress with the franchise, after discussions broke down between themselves and Marvel.

Additional emails show plans are being developed for an animated ‘Spider-Man’ comedy film from the creators of ‘The Lego Movie’, Chris Miller and Phil Lord.

This comes shortly after Al Pacino suggested he could appear in an upcoming Marvel film.

The 74-year-old star confirmed he’s met with Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, and hinted he may soon star in a comic book-inspired film.

He told the Happy Sad Confused podcast: "I’ve met with the Marvel guy. It’s a Marvel how things happen.

"I would imagine that either there’s something he feels is right for me and if I feel…"

Al was then interrupted by a telephone call and joked it was Marvel calling to stop him from revealing any spoilers of the film.
