Take That tease new song You’re A Superstar from forthcoming album at end of Netflix documentary

Take That shared a new song called You’re A Superstar in the closing credits of the final episode of their three-part Netflix documentary.

The pop trio – Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen – snuck in a secret tune as the tell-all series met its conclusion and it’s been confirmed the track is taken from their first album since 2023’s This Life.

An insider told The Mirror: “The band thought it would be a great surprise and a treat for fans at the end of the Netflix series. It’s a great way to tease their new material and the full single will be coming soon.”

Gary confirmed a new album was underway last year, but admitted he would prefer to just keep dropping singles.

He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column in 2025: “We’re all working on a new Take That record right now.

“We all came off tour at the end of the year and said, ‘Right, let’s get to work’.

“It’s been slated for next year. We just don’t want to stop, really.

“But I think we’re at the point where we don’t even really want to make an album, we just want to put singles out.

“We’re writing, we’re recording, and when we like something, we’re just going to put it out.

“The albums take years to make. And I often think of our fans, they want stuff now. They don’t want to wait for two years.”

In the Netflix doc, the band chronicle the highs and the lows of being in one of the biggest British boy bands.

Gary admitted watching the second episode, which looks at the darker sides of fame, was tough to sit through.

He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I’ll be honest with you, it took me about a week to get through that second episode.

“It was a really, really hard watch. A lot of the things in it, I haven’t thought about for a long, long time, and they’ve actually stuck with me since viewing it.”

Take That began as a five-piece, but following the departures of Robbie Williams and Jason Orange, they have operated as a trio since 2014, but they don’t think they’d go on if anyone else wanted to leave.

Gary said: “I think three is as small as we’re gonna get.”

Mark Owen quipped: “We could change it to Take Two.”

Gary added: “That’s not a bad name.”
