Sunetra Sarker competed on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ with a broken toe for two months.
The ‘Casualty’ actress was voted off the BBC One celebrity dance contest last night (01.11.14) after losing the dance-off to former ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star Mark Wright, and she’s now revealed she’s been hiding an injury since the second week of training.
She said: "My poor feet – I cracked a bone in my metatarsal in week two and it’s been strapped up ever since.
"Every person who looked at it said ‘rest!’ but how could I? I had to learn the waltz, and then the foxtrot and then the samba!"
The 41-year-old star explained the bone broke when her professional dance partner Brendan Cole stood on her toe during rehearsals.
She continued: "I didn’t think it was that bad at first, but then about three or four days later I realised I was hurting."
Sunetra confessed that although she gave the competition her all, even practising on the set of her BBC medical drama, she feels a sense of relief at being voted off.
She explained to The Sun newspaper: "I never knew I was taking on so much. Casualty is a five or six day a week job … It has been hard, but also amazing. And there’s only a couple of weeks of Strictly I’m not going to be involved in.
"But now I’m out I can finally give my toe a rest."
