Suge Knight agrees to 28-year prison sentence

Suge Knight has agreed to face 28 years in prison after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter.
The Death Row Records co-founder was charged with murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run after businessman Terry Carter was run over and killed in 2015, and he entered into a plea agreement at Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday (20.09.18) ahead of the approaching murder trial.
According to TMZ, Suge will get credit for time served after being locked up for the last three-and-a-half years awaiting trial, and he will be on parole for three years after serving his sentence.
The rap mogul will be sentenced on October 4 when he will be handed a 28-year prison term under the agreement with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Suge – whose real first name is Marion – was involved in a fist fight with ‘Straight Outta Compton’ consultant Cle ‘Bone’ Sloan, and later clipped him in his pick-up truck, and he ran over Terry.
He had faced a potential life sentence if he was convicted during the murder trial, but after making a plea deal his murder, robbery and making criminal threats charges will be dismissed.
Suge previously faced five years probation in 1995 after he attacked two rappers at a recording studio in 1992, and in 1997 he was sentenced to jail time after violating the terms of the probation when he was involved in a fight in a Las Vegas hotel room in 1996.
This came just hours before late rapper Tupac was fatally shot dead aged 25 while Suge was driving him in Vegas.
As well as Tupac, Suge’s label also once featured rap greats such as Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg.
