Sugababes writing music with JADE

Sugababes have been writing with former Little Mix star JADE.

The ‘Push the Button’ hitmakers – Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy – have spilled that they did a verse and a chorus on a track for the ‘Angel of My Dreams’ singer, though it’s not quite finished yet.

Speaking about presenting JADE with her BRIT Award for Best Pop Act recently, Keisha told NME: “It was lovely, and we actually had a writing session with her a couple of weeks ago, which was cool.”

Siobhán asked her bandmate: “Have we heard the track [we wrote] back yet?”

Keisha replied: “Yeah, I heard it back the other day. I mean, it wasn’t completely finished. We just did a verse and chorus, but it’s definitely got something.”

Siobhán added: “The whole thing was very relaxed: a no pressure situation. You [Keisha] were putting on your makeup to go out and JADE was putting on her makeup to go out, and we were all just writing. It felt exciting.”

Sugababes have played Glastonbury a couple of times in recent years, and while they would love to play the Pyramid Stage, Keisha would like them to have new hits to play as they don’t want to be just another nostalgia act.

Siobhán said: “It’s definitely on our wish list.”

Keisha said: “I’m happy that we haven’t done it so far – we haven’t been asked – because I’d love to do it with new music that’s successful, so it feels fresh and new. We know we’ve got the history behind us, but we also want to be relevant. We hate the word ‘reunion’ and all that kind of stuff because it’s not where we’re at.”

Sugababes have just kicked off their new era with the brand-new track ‘Jungle’, their first material since 2023’s ‘When The Rain Comes’, with plenty more where that came from.

The trio have also gone independent after departing major label BMG.

Meanwhile, the band are hitting the road for a UK tour next month, kicking off on April 8 in Leeds and wrapping in Glasgow on April 17.
