Sue Nicholls feels presence of late Corrie stars on set

Sue Nicholls still feels the presence of late ‘Coronation Street’ stars on the soap’s set.
The 74-year-old actress portrays Audrey Roberts in the ITV show and while fan favourites including Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth), Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth) and Anne Kirkbride (Deirdre Barlow) have passed away in recent years, she still "constantly thinks" about them at the programme’s Manchester base.
She said: "I often feel the presence of my old cast mates while on set.
"I still see them now and again.
"I look around the set and I’m constantly thinking about the ones that have lived behind those doors. It’s wonderful."
Sue is also pleased to see old episodes of ‘Corrie’ are being repeated on TV because it helps her feel that some of the late stars are still around.
She added to the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "It’s keeping them alive in some sort of form. I feel a lot of warmth knowing that they are around."
Sue’s comments come after her character Audrey was visited by clairvoyant Rosemary, played by Sophie Thompson, and the ‘Harry Potter’ star admitted she would love her alter-ego to bring back the likes of Jack and Vera.
Sophie said: "Hilda Ogden. Jack and Vera. Ena Sharples, all those ladies who used to drink stout in the Rovers.
"I wish I could bring them back and have a milk stout with them in black and white … ‘Corrie’ will always have that spirit, those strong women and great storylines."
Rosemary returned to the soap last week and looks set to try to con Audrey’s daughter Gail Platt (Helen Worth) with the help of Gail and Audrey’s ex Lewis Archer, after Nigel Havers reprised his role as the conman.
