Stevie Wonder heartbroken over Prince’s death

Stevie Wonder doesn’t want to believe Prince is dead.
The 65-year-old musician – who has worked with the fallen star on numerous occasions – felt his heart break in two when he heard the ‘Purple Rain’ hitmaker had tragically passed away at his home in Minnesota and feels there will always be a piece of his "army" missing now he’s gone.
He said of the star’s death: "It’s a heartbreak and I was shocked. I didn’t believe it as I find it so hard to believe. It’s a heartbreak to lose a member of that army of love."
The ‘Isn’t She Lovely’ hitmaker – who performed with Prince at a secret gig at the White House last year – believes the world has lost a musical genius and, although he’s gone, he will always be in awe of his incredible talent.
Speaking on ‘Anderson Cooper 360’ last night (21.04.16), Stevie said: "He was a great musician. He loved music. He loved playing his instrument. He could play classical music if he wanted to. He could play jazz if he wanted to, he could play country if he wanted to. He played rock, you know, he played blues. He played pop. He played everything."
Stevie was then asked to perform a song from the 57-year-old legend’s collection of hits but he politely declined.
He said: "I think I would probably break down if I do a song right now, but he was incredible and I am just glad that I was able to say to him, ‘I love you.’ "
Meanwhile, the whole world was thrown into mourning last night when it was confirmed Prince’s body had been found at his Paisley Park estate on Thursday morning.
A post-mortem examination is being carried out today (22.04.16), although it’s not thought his death involved foul play.
