Steven Moffat reveals Jenna-Louis Coleman will be in Christmas special

‘Doctor Who’ showrunner Steven Moffat has revealed Jenna-Louise Coleman will be appearing in the show’s Christmas special.

The writer-and-producer has revealed Jenna – who plays companion Clara Oswald – will be joining Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi in the festive episode and filming starts in a matter of weeks.

Rumours had circulated online that the upcoming new series could be Coleman’s last, but in an interview with BBC Radio Wales on Thursday (07.08.14) Moffat said: "Peter and Jenna only wrapped on the show yesterday (06.08.14). We’re not letting them off the hook because they’re going to be doing the two premieres, then they’re going off on the World Tour, then they’re coming back to shoot Christmas. There’s no let-up, not when you’re on this show!"

Moffat attended the world premiere of Capaldi’s first outing as the Time Lord, ‘Deep Breath’, at St David’s Hall in Cardiff, Wales, yesterday and greeted the huge throng of fans that turned out to celebrate the new Doctor.

He was joined on the red carpet by Capaldi and Coleman as well as Daleks and Cybermen.

Capaldi was blown away by the fans reaction to him and said: "Thanks to everyone who came along today to help us launch the new series in style. Such warmth and an amazing turn-out. Thank you!"

On Thursday evening the trio attended a screening and Q&A at the BFI in London and Capaldi and Coleman are now set to head off on a world tour to promote the new series with stops in Seoul (South Korea), Sydney (Australia), New York (USA) and Mexico City (Mexico) finishing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on August 19.

‘Deep Breath’ will be aired on BBC One on Saturday August 23.
