Steven Knight says the Oasis Live ’25 Tour documentary is ‘phenomenal’

Steven Knight has praised the upcoming Oasis Live ’25 Tour documentary as “phenomenal”, promising fans an intimate and story‑driven look at the band’s long‑awaited reunion.

The Peaky Blinders creator is producing the film, which is being directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the duo behind LCD Soundsystem’s acclaimed concert movie Shut Up And Play the Hits. Cameras followed Oasis through rehearsals and pre‑tour meetings, capturing a rare fly‑on‑the‑wall view of the brothers’ return to the stage.

Speaking to Project Big Screen, Steven said the current cut runs at four hours but already feels special.

He said: “It’s phenomenal.

“We’ve got it down to four hours, so we’ve gotta get it down to [a shorter runtime].”

He added that the film has a clear narrative: “It’s a documentary with a plot, do you know what I mean? It’s actually got a story. And then we’ve expanded it… you’ll see when you see it.”

Steven also revealed that interviewing Liam and Noel Gallagher delivered exactly the kind of material fans would expect.

He said: “They’re just one quote after another. They’re just so funny.”

Noel has only seen fragments of the film so far, but even from the small amount he’s watched, he believes the final cut will be something special.

He said backstage at this year’s BRIT Awards: “I’ve only seen a tiny little bit of it, and it’s difficult to have an opinion on it because I’m only looking at little snippets.

“Everyone who has seen it, or seen more of it than I have, has said that it’s amazing. If it even captures five per cent of what that tour was, it’ll be astonishing. Looking forward to it.”

Producers invited fans to share their personal Oasis stories for potential inclusion. A call‑out on oasis-film.com asked people around the world to submit memories tied to the band’s songs, whether connected to love, heartbreak, loss or moments of personal freedom.

The Live ’25 tour marked Oasis’ first shows in 16 years, kicking off in Cardiff on July 4 with special guests Richard Ashcroft and Cast. The band went on to perform across the USA, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile and Brazil. The reunion was their first since their 2009 split following a backstage altercation between Liam and Noel Gallagher at Rock en Seine in Paris.
