Steve Hackett plotting Genesis reunion

Steve Hackett is in talks with his Genesis band mate Peter Gabriel to reunite the legendary prog rock band.
The 67-year-old guitarist – who was in the ‘Invisible Touch’ group from 1971 to 1977 – might be busy promoting his solo career, but he is all for getting back together with the original line up, which also included Mike Rutherford on bass.
He told the MailOnline: "A Genesis reunion is possible.
"I’m speaking to Peter to find out what he thinks about the state of the world. I’m trying my best, believe me. I won’t say any more because I don’t want to raise expectations."
Several members of Genesis have spoke of a potential reunion including Phil Collins, who played drums and later fronted the rock group when Peter left the prog incarnation of the band in 1975.
He previously said he is interested in reforming with his old band mates, Tony Banks and Mike, but only if he could take on singing duties as he can no longer play the drums due to a long-standing neck injury and a bad back.
Of a possible reunion, he said: "We could probably put to bed the Peter Gabriel Genesis, especially if I can’t really play that well. In my eyes that would be my role – I’d go back behind the drums."
And keyboard player Tony previously told BANG Showbiz of a possible reunion: "I’d love to say that we are, but I know nothing of it.
"It’s never a problem for me really. Mike and I see each other a lot and we are always up for anything really. The problem really is Phil is not quite able to do what he did in the past, but we never say never."
The 66-year-old musician thinks it would be great to play the same set they did in 2007 on the ‘Turn It On Again’ tour.
Tony was adamant just because they are "getting a bit older" a reunion is still a possibility because they "all get on" still.
He explained: "Despite what you might read sometimes we all get on. I’d love to do the tour we did before in 2007 with Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thompson. We are all getting a bit older, but we are all still alive."
