Steps to create own version of Let It Shine?

Steps want to launch their own version of ‘Let It Shine’.
The ‘5,6,7,8’ hitmakers – comprised of Lee Latchford-Evans, Claire Richards, Lisa Scott Lee, Ian ‘H’ Watkins and Faye Tozer – have just reformed for the band’s 20th anniversary and, although right now they want to focus on their new music, they would like to see their journey performed on stage sometime in the future.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Lisa said: "Would we create another Steps? Yeah why not! For us, at the moment, it’s really exciting to create new music so that’s what we’re focusing on now but you never know what will happen."
‘Let It Shine’ is a talent show – spearheaded by Take That’s lead singer Gary Barlow – in which five young lads, Nick Carsberg, A.J Bentley, Curtis T. Johns, Yazdan Qafouri and Sario Watanabe -Solomon, fought off competition from scores of hopefuls to form a new boyband called Five to Five to replicate the group’s journey through music.
The programme raked in 6.8 million viewers on launch night but the numbers dwindled and Gary’s former bandmate Robbie Williams even pulled out of his guest judge spot.
However, despite its success, the BBC decided not to recommission it this year.
A source said recently: "The show was a huge success in many ways but the concept for a second series just wasn’t quite there yet. The first series was a project that had been worked on for years before coming to fruition."
Singers Martin Kemp and Dannii Minogue joined Gary as judges, while Graham Norton and Mel Giedroyc presented the glitzy music show, which was billed to rival Simon Cowell’s ‘The X Factor’, but industry insiders say "the concept wasn’t quite there yet".
