Stephanie Waring is grateful for her bipolar disorder storyline in ‘Hollyoaks’.
The 35-year-old actress’ character Cindy Cunningham will discover she is suffering from manic depression, a condition that provokes extreme mood swings, on the Channel 4 soap this month and she is proud to have been assigned such an important plot.
Stephanie has been throwing herself into the role and is determined to do it justice, especially in the wake of discovering Kym Marsh has secretly been dating Dan Cooper, the father of her three-year-old daughter Lexi Grace.
She told The Sun newspaper: "I’m so grateful ‘Hollyoaks’ chose me for this storyline, it’s something really close to my heart. I know someone close with bipolar and to be given something to do with mental health issues… I take it very seriously."
The soap star has even been liaising with mental heath charity Mind in a bid to get to grips with mum-of-two Cindy’s battle.
She explained: "I’ve had meetings with mind and I’ve got someone who I can ring if I have any problems with the script. I’m hoping to raise a lot of awareness."
