Stephanie Leonidas wants to be the first female Doctor Who.
The 30-year-old actress has revealed that if she was to take on a role in the BBC sci-fi series, it would have to be that of the titular Time Lord himself.
Quizzed on whether she’d like to play the Doctor’s companion or whether she thinks they should have a female Doctor, she exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Yeah I’d like to be a female Doctor, yeah! Not the assistant. If you’re working on ‘Doctor Who’ you’ve got to be the Doctor.
"So yeah, I think they need a woman Doctor and that’s who I’d like to be."
Despite being a fan of the show, Stephanie – who was born and raised in London but is currently working on US sci-fi series ‘Defiance’ – confessed she hasn’t seen any of the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi’s episodes as of yet.
She added: I haven’t seen it and I really want to see it because I’ve heard some great things about the new episodes. Matt was a great Doctor Who and I can’t wait to see the new episodes.
"I think they’ve done well with every Doctor to be honest, I think they’ve all brought something new and something interesting.
"I’m definitely going to catch up with the latest ones and see how Peter’s doing but it looks like he’ll be a great Doctor. He’s such a great actor."
Stephanie reprises her role as alien Irisa in the new season of ‘Defiance’, which starts on Thursday September 18 at 9pm on Syfy.
