Sophie Turner didn’t tell anyone she auditioned for Game of Thrones

Sophie Turner didn’t tell anyone she was auditioning for ‘Game of Thrones’.

The 19-year-old actress landed the role of Sansa Stark when she was just 13 and the news even came as a shock to her mother.

She said: "I didn’t even tell my mum about the first auditions but, by the final one, I said to myself, ‘I’ll die if I don’t get this part. I just know Sansa too well. I can’t not get it.’ "

Sophie adores the show but admits she feels relieved when the difficult scenes are completed because she has such a strong connection to her character.

She said: "It is a relief when I finish doing the more upsetting scenes and I can get back to happy old Sophie.

"When I’m reading the script and something happens to Sansa, I cry.

"There is a real connection between us – I feel everything she feels. I don’t think anything in her life has really affected me – I hope not or I’d be the most depressed girl ever."

However, the actress admits she wants to be more like her alter ego.

She added to Look magazine: "I admire her strength and strive to be more like her."
