Sophie Gradon had been battling with depression before death

Sophie Gradon had been battling with depression before her tragic death.
The ‘Love Island’ 2016 star was found dead in her home near Newcastle yesterday (20.06.18) at the age of just 32 and, although her passing came as a huge shock to those who watched her attempt to find love on the show two years ago, her friends have claimed she had been dealing with her mental health in secret for some time.
A source told The Sun Online: "She had been privately struggling with depression but close friends thought she was in a great place as she was madly in love with her boyfriend and life was good. However her good friend Paul Burns died and it affected her very badly. She struggled to cope with it and fell into a dark place."
Although the extent of her depression and anxiety wasn’t known to fans, Sophie had previously mentioned that she was dealing with some demons on social media.
She wrote back to a fan online last year: "Hi guys, no not dead just battling a little bit of depression. I’ll come back I promise x. (sic)"
She later added: "Feel so guilty when my anxiety takes over, for not wanting to see or speak to anyone. Some days I get so overwhelmed I just want to nap!"
However, just two months ago she had said that things were looking up for her.
She wrote: "Thinking back to when I became a total recluse, afraid to go out anywhere bc of crippling anxiety & how different my life is now!!! Facing up to your fears is sometimes the hardest but most rewarding thing!!! (sic)"
Sophie’s boyfriend Aaron Armstrong was one of the first to post a tribute on social media after her shock passing was confirmed by police this morning (21.06.18).
He shared a photograph of the pair laughing and he wrote: "I will never forget that smile I love you so so much baby your my world forever ever and always. (sic)"
