‘Some of the most exciting things could still be yet to come…’ Singer Kim Wilde doesn’t want biopic – yet

Kim Wilde isn’t interested in having a biopic on her life for now – because the “most exciting things could still be yet to come”.

The 64-year-old singer has enjoyed a pop career which has spanned five decades and began with her 1981 single ‘Kids in America’, which was a smash hit across the globe.

In recent years, fans have flocked to see films like ‘Rocketman’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘Amy’ which told the life stories of Sir Elton John, Freddie Mercury and Queen and Amy Winehouse, respectively.

Kim doesn’t want to see her career and life immortalised on screen yet, because she still thinks she has more highlights to come and much more music to make.

When asked if she was interested in having her own biopic, she said: “I think it might be a bit previous, really.

“I’ve got a feeling that some of the most exciting things could still be yet to come. Maybe that’s just wishful thinking! The way my life goes, it wouldn’t surprise me if that was the case.

“I think the most interesting part about a lot of artists lives is the stuff that’s not behind the camera, the very private part of their life. I’m not sure I’d be that comfortable with that part of my life being exposed.”

Kim is currently on a tour of the UK this March in support of her latest LP ‘Closer, which was released in January 2025.

The chart legend is joined in her band by her brother Ricky Wilde and her niece Scarlett Wilde, who both co-wrote and co-produced her 15th studio album along with her.

The musical relationship between Kim and Ricky – whose father is singer Marty Wilde, who was at the forefront of the British rock ‘n’ roll movement in the 1950s – is something that the ‘Water On Glass’ hitmaker cherishes.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Kim shared: “It’s really beautiful. The older we get, the more emotional I think we both feel about it.

“Life is not forever and careers don’t last forever and your legs don’t last forever and your hips and your knees! So we’re very grateful where we are still in a position where we can do it.”

Kim is adamant that the thought of retiring from touring or recording has never crossed her mind and she is already looking ahead to making another album in the future with Ricky, 63, and Scarlett.

She said: “We’re a long way from there [retirement]. We don’t entertain those thoughts yet, but we know it’s coming so we don’t take anything for granted.

“Every gig we do now and every moment like that is so precious and we put everything into our show to make it as perfect as we perceive it to be for the audience.”
