‘Descendants’ star Sofia Carson is inspired by the success of Selena Gomez.
The 22-year-old actress – who appears in the role of Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen, in Disney’s new musical fantasy film – has revealed she’s eager to follow in the footsteps of the 23-year-old beauty, who’s established herself as one of America’s top singers and actresses.
Asked which of Disney’s former stars have inspired her career, Sofia exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I’m a huge fan of all of them. I was definitely a huge Selena Gomez fan.
"But all of the shows, ‘Raven’, ‘Lizzie McGuire’, with Hilary Duff – all of them. I admire anyone who is in this business.
"Oh, Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake. Shia LaBeouf is an amazing actor."
And as well as appearing in the movie, Sofia is also set to launch her own music career, revealing her debut album will be "pop".
She shared: "I always wanted to make a pop record. I’m a dancer myself, so I want to make something that people listen to and just want to dance to. There’s actually some more rhythmic pop and cool stuff, and there’s also some more mainstream pop as well.
"I also love writing soulful ballads so I take inspiration from Sam Smith, Adele – oh, they’re both British! And in terms of pop, definitely Rihanna and Taylor Swift. I always really liked Jennifer Lopez."
‘Descendants’ premieres on Disney Channel at 5.30pm on Friday 25th September.
Disney’s ‘Descendants’ soundtrack is available now from Walt Disney Records. The soundtrack includes songs performed by the cast with four bonus tracks.
