Sky commissions comedy series Frayed

Robert Webb is to star in a new Sky original comedy series.
The ‘Peep Show’ actor and ‘Motherland’s Diane Morgan will appear alongside creator Sarah Kendall in ‘Frayed’, a six-part show telling the tale of the unravelling of a woman’s seemingly-perfect life.
The programme – a joint venture with ABC Australia – is set in London in 1988 and focuses on Simone Burbeck (Kendall), who lives in a mansion with her husband and children but when her spouse dies after suffering a heart attack while sleeping with a prostitute, her idyllic lifestyle unravels.
Homeless, broke and outcast by her friends, Simone and her family are forced to return to her family in Newcastle, Australia – where it turns out that everything about her life that she told her pals, including her real name, was a lie and her past begins to catch up with her, turning what she expected to be a temporary relocation into something more.
Sarah joked she was delighted to work on the show because it gave her "free flights" to visit her own loved ones.
She said: "I just wanted to visit my family in Newcastle but I ended up shooting a 6 part comedy here for Sky and ABC. I’m incredibly excited to be given this opportunity. And I also love free flights."
Meanwhile, Sky bosses are delighted with the "ingenious" show, which will hit screens on 26 September.
Sky’s Head of Comedy, Jon Mountague, said: "We can all relate in some way to complex family drama, which is at the heart of this ingeniously written comedy. Sarah Kendall is an exceptional lead and I’m excited to add ‘Frayed’ to Sky’s line-up of original British comedy in 2019."
