Skin almost ruined Masked Singer surprise

Skin "almost blew" her cover on ‘The Masked Singer’.
The Skunk Anansie star – who was revealed to be under the Duck costume during Saturday night’s (01.02.20) edition of the ITV show – admitted despite only telling her girlfriend about her involvement and doing her best to stay tight lipped, she nearly ruined the big surprise.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, she said: "I accidentally messed up on thing.
"I had my ear monitors and I didn’t know until I was handing it to the sound man that the ear monitors had my [real] name across the front."
The 52-year-old singer luckily didn’t get caught out at the time, and she covered her own name with a sticker labelled ‘Duck’.
However, she then forgot she’d made the switch when she took her equipment home.
She added: "I was going to work on something and I brought out my ear monitors and they still had ‘Duck’ written across the front of it.
"You know what it just takes one person to say, ‘I know who such and such is.’ "
Thankfully, Skin was able to fix the issue and push on in the competition, although she still had to go to extraordinary lengths to ensure her identity remained a secret.
She said: "Oh my god, it’s a complete and utter lock down. You have to wear a special hat and a jumper [backstage] that says, ‘Don’t talk to me’.
"You’re not allowed to see or converse with others. We never saw anyone. If I was going through the corridor, they would clear it. You never saw another artist at another point."
‘The Masked Singer’ airs on ITV on Saturdays at 7pm.
