Sir Roger Moore reprises role as James Bond for Comic Relief

Sir Roger Moore is to reprise his role as James Bond in a sketch for Comic Relief.

The 87-year-old actor is to join the current star of the spy films, Daniel Craig, in a "special one-off sketch" to be broadcast as part of Red Nose Day on March 13.

Roger took to his Twitter page to reveal the exciting news, saying: "I’ll tell you a secret … Daniel Craig is not the only 007 in the Comic Relief sketch. #Backasbond (sic)."

The ‘Spy Who Loved Me’ star confessed he is to reprise his role as the British secret agent after it was reported Craig – who is currently filming James Bond film ‘Spectre’ in Rome – will feature in ‘Face the Funny’, Comic Relief’s first charity show to be broadcast live from the London Palladium.

Moore first revealed he would be taking part in this year’s fundraising activities in February but has only just confirmed he will be revisiting his most famous role.

Writing on Twitter last month, he said: "I’m filming next Wednesday. #ComicRelief (sic)"

He later added: "Lovely time filming for #ComicRelief Will be part of Red Nose Day on BBC."

Meanwhile, it is the second time Craig, 47, has appeared in a skit for the charity, having previously starred alongside comedienne Catherine Tate in 2009 as she played a character named Elaine Figgis who was dating a spy played by the actor.

Other sketches announced for this year’s show include Rowan Atkinson’s return as Mr. Bean, Dawn French in ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ and highlights from Peter Kay’s ‘Phoenix Nights’ live show.
