Sir Roger Moore has offered to replace Daniel Craig in the new James Bond movie ‘Spectre’.
Craig – who currently plays the iconic secret agent – recently sprained his knee while shooting a fight scene for the ‘Skyfall’ sequel at Pinewood studios in Buckinghamshire and Sir Roger, 87, has offered to step into the breach.
He joked: "Sorry to hear Daniel Craig has sprained his knee on set #Spectre. Being 007 is not without its hazards. I’m available to step in if needed. (sic)"
Sir Roger starred as James Bond in the films between 1973 and 1985.
However, in a recent interview, Sir Roger said Sean Connery and Daniel Craig – as well as the much-maligned George Lazenby, who starred in 1969’s ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ – were all superior to him in the role.
He reflected: "I believe [Daniel Craig is] an excellent Bond.
"He’s much stronger than I am. I think he does a hell of a good job of it. He and Sean are, I think, undoubtedly the best Bonds."
Asked where he sits in the hierarchy of Bond actors, Sir Roger said: "I think a little bit behind George Lazenby, I suppose."
