Sir David Jason is considering retiring

Sir David Jason is considering retiring.
The ‘Only Fools and Horses’ star – who turned 77 this year – admits there are times when he thinks about packing in his job, especially after long days on set.
He said: "I sometimes feel that it’s time to retire, especially when I work such long hours. Production teams are always pushing to get a quart into a pint pot.
"If I’ve been rehearsing, I shut down when I get home. I put my feet up and don’t want anyone to speak to me. I just want a glass of Rioja. Of an evening, I like to watch informative programmes, such as ‘Horizon’, or wildlife programmes with David Attenborough."
But for the mean time at least, David wants to carry on and tries his best to keep a good work/life balance by "enjoying both in equal measure".
He added: "We try to keep our evenings quiet and tranquil – I don’t use social media at all and any phone calls are kept to the daytime or early evening. The last thing I do before bedtime at around 10.30pm, or a little earlier if I’m working the next day, is take my script and put it next to the bed, ready for my morning’s revision.
"My motto for a work/life balance is to enjoy both in equal measure. I do realise that I am lucky in my chosen career. I wouldn’t swap it for the world."
And David enjoys being able to pick and choose his work so he can spend time with his daughter Sophie, 16.
Speaking to The Sunday Times magazine, he added: "When I became a dad for the first time at the age of 61, I had mixed feelings due to fear, but because I was in the fortunate position of being able to pick and choose my work, I could give more time to Sophie."
