Sir David Attenborough to retire?

Sir David Attenborough’s latest documentary will reportedly be his last "proper" on-the-road project.
The 89-year-old naturalist has managed to acquire a legion of fans over the years with his informative globe-trotting antics but, as he prepares to hit the age of 90 next month, his producer Anthony Geffin is convinced the veteran’s latest series ‘The Great Barrier Reef’ may be the last one he does.
Speaking to the Guardian Australia, Anthony – who has worked with Sir David for over seven years – said: "In a way I feel this one is the last of what I call ‘on-the-road’ David Attenboroughs. That does not mean this is his last film, because he’ll top and tail films, and he’ll do narrations forever. But I think the idea of taking Attenborough … for a year to two years on a project where he’s involved intensely and goes on locations a lot – I think at 90, that can’t go on forever."
However, Anthony is convinced Sir David will still try and hit the road as much as possible because he’d love nothing more than to finish his life doing what he adores.
He said: "Will he stop? He’ll never stop. In fact he’s often said to me … the best way to go would be on the road."
Meanwhile, Sir David – who is known for his therapeutic voice-overs – is gearing up to narrate the forthcoming natural history series ‘Planet Earth II’, a collection of six nature episodes, later this year.
