Sir Bradley Wiggins quits The Jump

Sir Bradley Wiggins has quit ‘The Jump’.
The 36-year-old retired professional cyclist has said he’s "gutted" to have to pull out of the Channel 4 winter sports show, but after suffering a "small leg fracture" he is unable to continue competing.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday night (12.02.17) to share the news, the five-time Olympic champion wrote: "Gutted to be leaving The Jump. I wanted to give you an injury update…
"1/2 Seen a specialist, I have a small leg fracture & need to rest for 3/6 weeks. Good news no surgery or cast required.
"2/2 Huge thanks to the crew & good luck to all of the cast. Due to the way the show is filmed I’ll still be on until show 4, so tune in (sic)"
Bradley sustained the injury during training for the snow cross event which took place on Sunday’s show, and is "disappointed" to have to leave the show.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "He doesn’t need an operation, but he does need to rest and that’s why he couldn’t carry on competing.
"He hurt himself in snow cross training, where they wear boots, it’s a cross between ice skating and skiing, it’s like an obstacle course.
"From everything we know the break should heal properly. It is a small fracture so much so that he had been hoping to be able to carry on from it.
"But the specialist he needed to keep off it. He is really disappointed not to be able to carry on and he would have done if there had been any chance to compete."
It isn’t the first injury sustained by the sporting superstar either, as on last week’s show he suffered a torn calf muscle during a slalom race against comedian Mark Dolan.
A source said at the time: "Bradley was gutted to have sustained an injury and is doing all he can to stay in the process.
"He was taken to see a doctor and given painkillers."
