Simon Gregson and his wife are expecting their third son.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor and spouse Emma – who already have sons Alfie, eight, and six-year-old Harry together – revealed in May they were having another baby and found out the tot’s gender as soon as they could.
Emma said: "We booked a private scan at 16 weeks. I did try and get one a couple of weeks earlier – I told them my arrival date was earlier than it actually is, I just wanted to know what was happening.
Simon added: "The lady played along and kept winking at me when Emma was telling her. At the end she said, ‘You need to come back when you are 16 weeks.’
"If they had opened up at one minute past midnight, Emma would have been there."
Tragically, the couple were initially expecting twins but Emma miscarried one of the babies early in her pregnancy.
She told OK! magazine: "I wasn’t very well at the beginning – I had really bad morning sickness and I just didn’t feel quite right.
"I went to the hospital’s early pregnancy unit and they checked me out. We found out it was twins – two eggs in different sacs.
"We had to keep going back to the unit, but sadly only one of the twins survived. We’re very lucky to have this one.
"There’s no reason or explanation for it. It was just one of those things. I was a little disheartened. We just thought that everything happens for a reason."
