Simon Delaney to join Coronation Street

Mrs Brown’s Boys’ Simon Delaney is set to join ‘Coronation Street’.
The 46-year-old actor – who portrayed Tom Crews in the 2014 comedy movie – will reportedly rock up on the cobbles next month and, although not much is known about his storyline or how long he’ll be around, it’s believed he will play an Irish character.
A source told the Sunday World newspaper: "Simon plays an Irish character and has already filmed his opening scenes."
The television presenter – who was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland – added even more fuel to the fire on Monday (08.05.17) when he teased that he was heading to Manchester – where the programme is filmed – later this week to do some shooting.
He joked on his Twitter account: "Yes indeed, the rumours are true, I am heading to Manchester. This Thursday. For the United match. #amongstotherthings. (sic)"
As well as appearing in ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie’ three years ago, Simon is certainly no stranger to the world of acting as he previously starred in the film ‘Delivery Man’ with Vince Vaughn and ‘Begin Again’ with Keira Knightley.
Meanwhile, ‘Coronation Street’ is certainly one of the front runners in the soap world at the moment as not only is the distressing grooming storyline involving Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) set to get darker, but there’s also a whodunnit plot going on in the background as investigators try to find out who pushed Ken Barlow (Bill Roache).
Speaking of the grooming storyline, which sees Bethany’s boyfriend Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) sell her to his mates for sex, Chris said recently: "Nathan has done it before to other people and is doing with other people still. Bethany is falling in love with him. She is going to be entering a dark space and Nathan introducing Neil is just the beginning. Counsellors call it love bombing and it can happen to anyone.
"The perpetrator pretends to be your hero but Bethany to Nathan is a commodity. Nathan will be proposing to her and he wins her trust and makes her fall in love with him then flips it and plays on her age."
